Detailed Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Marrakech → High Atlas → Ait Ben Haddou → Skoura Oasis → Valley of Roses → Dades Gorges
(≈ 380 km | relaxed pace)
08:00 pickup. Cross Tizi n’Tichka pass with panoramic stops.
Guided visit to UNESCO Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah.
Continue to enchanting Skoura palm oasis – visit Kasbah Amridil and wander among thousands of date palms.
Drive through the fragrant Valley of Roses (Kelaat M’Gouna) – stop at a rose cooperative (May = rose festival!).
Evening arrival in Dades Gorges. Dinner & overnight in a beautiful riad/kasbah overlooking the gorge.

Day 2: Dades Gorges → Todra Gorges → Erfoud → Merzouga Dunes

Morning walk among the famous “Monkey Fingers” rock formations.
Explore the dramatic 300 m-high cliffs of Todra Gorges – time for photos and a refreshing riverside walk.
Pass through fossil town Erfoud. Arrive at Erg Chebbi around 16:00.
Free time to relax at the dune-edge hotel or try sandboarding.
Late afternoon: 1.5-hour camel trek into the heart of the dunes.
Sunset from the highest dune, then arrive at your private luxury desert camp.
Mint tea, 3-course dinner, live Berber music & drumming, stargazing.

Day 3: Full Desert Day in Merzouga – Sunrise, Nomad Visit & Free Time
(Almost no driving – full immersion day)
Wake early (optional) for an unforgettable sunrise over the dunes.
After breakfast, short 4×4 excursion: visit a nomadic family, see Gnawa music village (Khamlia), explore fossil sites.
Lunch back at the hotel. Afternoon completely free: sandboard, relax by the pool, quad bike (optional), or simply enjoy the silence of the desert.
Second camel trek (or 4×4) back to the luxury camp for another magical sunset #2. Dinner, campfire, music. Second night under the stars.

Day 4: Merzouga → Ziz Valley → Midelt → Azrou Cedar Forest → Ifrane → Fes

Sunrise & breakfast, then depart around 08:30.
Drive along the spectacular Ziz Valley – endless palm groves and river views.
Stop in Midelt for lunch. Continue into the Middle Atlas Mountains.
Visit Azrou cedar forest – feed wild Barbary macaques and walk among giant ancient trees.
Pass through clean alpine town Ifrane (“Moroccan Switzerland”).
Arrival in Fes around 18:00. Check into a stunning riad inside the ancient medina.

Day 5 (Optional but Recommended): Full-Day Guided Tour of Fes
